When Karla first found a blue bag in her mail box she had no idea her life was about to change. When looking for work she recognised the Church 4 Life branding and saw that there was a position available in our Op shops. Karla loves Op shops and knew this would be a great fit for her.
“I love that clothes are recycled; most of my wardrobe is recycled. It’s just like what God does in our lives, He turns us into treasure,” she explained. When she came to Church 4 Life Charities, she found more than just a job. “It’s just me and my son, and most of my family live far away but I strongly feel that God has called me to Newcastle and I love to serve. Since I’ve been here I have built my confidence, my fitness has increased and I have a place that I can encourage others. The job has also been a means of providing for us. I’ve gained financial freedom, bought a used car and have access to internet at home, things I couldn’t afford before. But I also love that I’ve connected with a whole community here. I have made new friends and as customers have come in the shop I’ve discovered old friends too. It’s been great to connect and reconnect.”
Karla is talented with creating beautiful displays and making people feel welcome in the Warners Bay Op Shop. The store is open Monday – Friday 9am -5pm and Saturdays 9am – 3pm.
