For the past three years, Ian has been a familiar and friendly face on the roads across the Hunter and Central Coast. Every week, he climbs into one of our vans at Church 4 Life Clothing Collectors and heads out to collect generous donations from homes throughout the community. But for Ian, this job has become so much more than simply picking up goods. It has given him a new sense of purpose, belonging and joy.
Before joining Church 4 Life Clothing Collectors, Ian worked as a car washer. While he was thankful for the work, he knew he was ready for something different — a fresh challenge and a new direction. That opportunity came when he joined our team as a driver.
Now, instead of staying in one place, Ian spends his days out on the road, loading and unloading donations, meeting people and helping make a difference in the lives of others. He loves that every week looks a little different. The active nature of the role keeps him moving, and the regular runs have helped him build genuine connections with many of our loyal donors.
“I enjoy getting to know the people we collect from,” Ian shared. “After a while, you recognise familiar faces and get to say hello each week.”
What makes Ian’s story even more special is the impact this role has had beyond the workplace. His wife, Marilau, says she has seen a real change in him since joining Church 4 Life Clothing Collectors.
“She loves the fact that I’m a much happier person now,” Ian said.
At Church 4 Life Clothing Collectors, we believe meaningful work can change lives. By creating a supportive and flexible workplace, we’re able to help people like Ian thrive while giving back to the community every single day. We are so thankful for our incredible donors and supporters whose generosity makes stories like Ian’s possible.
Together, we’re not only collecting donations — we’re helping build hope, purpose and brighter futures.
