Church 4 Life

Sam is often one of the first people you’ll notice when you walk into the shop—not because she’s loud, but because of her quiet, steady presence.

There’s a calm kindness about her. She’s helpful, attentive, and full of care. The kind of person who notices what someone needs and gently steps in to meet it. Whether it’s finding the right treasure or offering a warm smile (and sometimes even a hug), Sam makes people feel at ease.

Working as part of the retail team at our Warners Bay Op Shop has become something truly special for her. After a career break, she was given the opportunity to step back into the workforce—and she hasn’t looked back. What started as a chance to rebuild through volunteering has become, in her words, her favourite job ever.

Here, she gets to use all her skills and talents in a way that really matters. Not just serving customers, but caring for people. Encouraging them. Helping them—just as she was once helped.

She especially loves her regulars. Robbi, Sanja, Sam, Debbie. And so many others whose faces she knows, even if she can’t always recall their names. What she does remember is the connection. The conversations. The shared moments that turn a simple visit into something meaningful.

Sundays are her favourite. While many shops are closed, she gets to open the doors and welcome people in. She knows those who come by on a Sunday are often looking for more than just a bargain. And she’s there for it—with warmth, patience, and genuine care.

Through her quiet faithfulness, Sam is helping create a space where people feel they belong.

We are so thankful for her, and for the way she gives back so generously. Because of the support of our community, opportunities like this continue to grow—creating pathways for people to step forward, find purpose, and help others along the way.
