“I haven’t seen Jayden laughing and happy like this in a long time. Thank you so much!” Jayden’s Mum said to Gail in our Op Shop last week.
Jayden and Owen both started volunteering with us a couple of months apart. Previous workplaces had left them feeling pretty low and then unemployment left them bored and aimless, but volunteering gave them confidence and hope.
“My last workplace was very toxic” Owen shares. “I came to volunteer here because I wanted to do something positive with my days. They are very encouraging here at Church 4 Life Clothing Collectors. Sue made me feel very welcome and when she heard I had experience doing wool baling she knew I would shine in the Global Services Team in the warehouse. I love it here!”
Both Jayden and Owen felt like they were looked down on and disrespected in previous jobs as they were the youngest. Here they feel like they are part of the team and have a great mentor in Zac.
“We work hard. We have fun. We make the world a better place and we feel valued. Every day is an adventure and a fun challenge to beat our Personal Record. I am the High Score Record holder!” Jayden says with pride! “I was so happy when casual work came available because I love working here and now I have a job where I can win and feel valued. Please keep sending in your bags of clothes so I can get lots of shifts!”
