Helping Kayla, a Gen Z in the aftermath of Covid19 so she can attain further skills and move forward in her career.
“I left my previous job because of vaccine mandates, and Church 4 Life was gracious enough to provide me with a job. I’m now in retail sales for their Op Shop and moving in a good direction career-wise!”
Kayla has a good eye for visual merchandising and is great at helping customers find what they are looking for. She is also learning to be a clothing selector in our specialist sorting department.
“This involves learning about textiles, fabric, brands, quality and grading as well as demographics of where items should go to locally.”
Kayla has been mentored by Jean who has 10 years of experience and is passing on her knowledge to the younger generations. There is an art to selecting quality clothing, bags and shoes and being able to identify, unique, boutique or hard to find items.
“Church 4 Life are also helping me do an Events traineeship. I will get to be heavily involved in organising future charity events”
Kayla is learning a lot and is proving to be an asset to the charity too. She is creative, organised, driven and works hard. We are happy to see that in a time when jobs became uncertain, Church 4 Life Charities were able to help out where we could and this wonderful Gen Z champion is doing amazing things that ultimately helps those who are/may be disadvantaged in life.
Keep up the great work Kayla!
