When we met Peter he was very quiet, withdrawn and lacking confidence, partly from being unemployed for a long time. The change in him has been miraculous. Peter loves his job and works diligently to serve our donors across the Hunter and Central Coast.
Peter tells his Story in his own words:
“When I was broken and had failed at everything and had been hiding in the garage from my family, I realised I was turning away from Jesus. I started trying to repent and one of those steps was to volunteer at Church 4 Life Clothing Collectors delivering to letter boxes. But I was told, “How did you know we were looking for a driver? We’ll pay you, drive to collect bags instead.” Less than two years later after a family breakup and other things going worse, my life going as low as it has ever gone, I just wanted to die. But my wife saw me having a minor seizure and told me to visit the hospital. I decided to see a doctor; they found a brain tumour entirely filling the second quarter of the left side of my brain. I was no longer allowed to drive. They took me to surgery and dug it out successfully. I was out of hospital in three days. I kept seeking Jesus all alone at home and He taught me with the Bible new things and different ways to think. A bit after three months later I was allowed to drive again. Church 4 Life allowed me to work with them again. I steadily improved over the next 2-3 years until I was the happiest I have ever been since I can ever remember. My life hasn’t changed much in that time, but I sure have. I am continuing to improve even from this point. I would like to thank Jesus for being with me and teaching me, my parents for parking their caravan in my driveway when I was completely alone and couldn’t drive, and for other precious people who supported me, and Church 4 Life who have continued to support me throughout the very worst time in my life.”
