Church 4 Life

When everything feels uncertain, it can take just one moment of kindness to change the direction of a life.

About 18 months ago, Angela found herself facing one of those moments. She had been made redundant without a payout, and the reality of providing for her family—especially with a teenager depending on her—felt overwhelming. Finding work felt even more daunting because of her age, and the worry of “what now?” weighed heavily.

But God was already at work through a simple, meaningful connection.

Angela had known Lesley from her previous job— Lesley was one of her favourite customers. When Lesley heard the news, she didn’t look the other way. She reached out with genuine care, asking how Church 4 Life Charities could help.

That small act of compassion became a powerful turning point.

Angela was welcomed in by Richard and Lesley and given an opportunity when she needed it most. Nearly 12 months on, she is not only back on her feet—she’s flourishing. Now part of the Boolaroo Op Shop, Angela is surrounded by a team who genuinely care, and it shows. Her customers adore her, and she is deeply appreciated by the volunteers she works alongside each day. Together, they are creating a place filled with warmth, connection, and purpose.

What once felt like loss has become a place of belonging.

Angela’s story is a beautiful reminder that people matter. That relationships matter. And that sometimes, the very person you once served becomes part of the answer you were praying for.

At Church 4 Life Charities, we are so thankful for a community that looks out for one another. Because of the generosity of our supporters and volunteers, stories like Angela’s continue to unfold—stories of hope, restored dignity, and new beginnings.

If you’re walking through uncertainty today, be encouraged—there is still hope. You are seen, you are valued, and the right door can open when you least expect it.
