Late last week, a woman called our team and apologised before she even asked her question.
“I feel terrible asking this… but could someone come and collect a few bags of clothes from my house?”
She told us she’d always dropped donations off herself.
But with petrol prices rising, that short drive just isn’t something her family can afford right now.
So the bags are sitting by the door.
Clothes her kids have outgrown.
Shoes still in great condition.
Fresh linen folded and ready to go.
She wants them to help someone else.
She just needs someone to come and collect them.
And she’s not alone
We’re hearing from more and more people just like her.
Good, generous people who want to give…
but simply can’t justify the cost of fuel to drive across the city.
So instead, they’re asking us to come to them.
And we want to say yes—every time.

As more people need pickups, our vans are travelling further every day.
And with fuel costs rising, the price of keeping those vans on the road is climbing fast.
